The Jibarito Stop was created by Cely Rodriguez & Moraima Fuentes in 2012 as a food truck. With the support of all their loyal customers it then flourished into a restaurant in Pilsen. The Jibarito Stop is located at 1646 W. 18th St. We think this is some of the best Puerto Rican food we’ve ever had. Puerto Rican food can be very meat heavy but we loved that the Jibarito Stop has vegetarian options. Our favorite items were the veggie empanadas and the vegetarian Jibarito sandwich!
Pilsen has more and more cool restaurants popping up everyday! La Luna has recently opened on the corner of 18th st. & Racine. You can enjoy traditional Mexican recipes as well as unique small plates. They also have a downstairs lounge that includes a mezcal bar, shuffleboard & antique board games. La Luna is located at 1726 S. Racine and open Tuesday thru Thursday 4pm-midnight, Friday 4pm-2am & Saturday 4pm-3am.
We love supporting small businesses and recently discovered L’ours Bakery Cafe in Little Italy. This cute coffee shop is located at 1424 W. Taylor St. Not only are the coffee and homemade pastries amazing but the decor stood out to us too. We loved the touch of gold everywhere from the tables to the utensils. It’s a perfect place to sit & study, have a meeting or just grab a coffee and relax! We will definitely be going back very soon. Make sure you try the matcha crosssaint & the pastry filled with blueberries & cream cheese. Those were some of our favorites!!
Pilsen’s restaurant scene has been on the map lately! We keep seeing more and more amazing restaurants pop up over here. Our latest favorite is Monnie Burke’s located at 1163 W. 18th St. It’s a very cozy vibe for a sit down dinner or just have a seat at the bar. In the summer time they open their huge outdoor patio as well! Make sure to try the four G’s and the Oscar Valentin drinks on their craft cocktail list.
