It’s official: Andersonville is the coolest neighborhood in the U.S.

Last month, we learned that Chicago was voted the second most beautiful & second most fun city in the world by 27,000 voters who weighed in on the 2021 Time Out Index survey. Now, Chicago has received yet another accolade: Andersonville, the historically Swedish enclave on the far North Side, was voted the coolest neighborhood in America and the second-coolest neighborhood in the world, following Copenhagen's Nørrebro.  Once the center of Chicago's Swedish community, the neighborhood is now better recognized as a hub for LGBTQ+ nightlife and culture, along with the destination-worthy restaurants, bars and shops.  Equally important are Andersonville's forward-looking efforts at promoting sustainability, like the Clark Street Composts initiative, which helps local businesses divert their food waste from landfills and just...

The Navy Pier Flyover is now open!!

The Navy Pier Flyover is now open, connecting the North and South sides of the Lakefront trail for the first time! This took a long time to build but it’s finally completed. Before today, pedestrians and bikers had to cross over two busy streets on the trail downtown. Now the trail stretches from Hollywood Ave to 71st uninterrupted.

Kids 13 and under are always free.    Museum of Contemporary Art: Free 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesdays for Illinois residents; kids 18 and under are always free Free the second Saturday of the month (October-May) for families with kids 12 and under.   Smart Museum of Art:  Always free.   Chicago History Museum: Free 12:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays   Chicago Children’s Museum: Free 5-8 p.m. Thursdays and the first Sunday of every month for kids 15 and under.
