Chicago's own, Lena Waithe, wore ChiBoys last night in LA on the red carpet for the premiere of the show 'The Chi' which airs January 7th at 10pm on Showtime. Created by Lena Waithe, and produced by Waithe and Common, this is a show shot in Chicago about Chicago. Waithe said that she wanted people to understand that the South Side of Chicago isn't a place where people are running around aimlessly shooting each other. It's more than the stories you hear on the nightly news. It's not "the jungle" as some may call it. These are real people with real stories. 'The Chi' is a coming-of-age drama series centered on a group of residents "who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption." Lena grew up on the south side of Chicago so it was only fitting for her to be the one to create this. She paid homage to her Chicago roots by wearing clothes from local Chicago businesses to the premiere. We salute all of her hard work and look forward to the upcoming episodes of 'The Chi.'
