Frank Lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959)  was absolutely one of the best architects in history.  He was born and raised in Wisconsin but left school to move to Chicago to pursue his dreams in architecture.  After years of study, he opened his own firm in Chicago and eventually moved it to Oak Park, IL.  He believed that architecture should merge with the environment.  He used horizontal lines, natural materials, and never used paint.  He despised urban environments so when he was assigned to design a skyscraper, he mimicked the natural lines of a tree.  One of his most famous buildings is the Robie House right here in Chicago.  Although this man moved over his career, he perfected his art right here in Chicago.  We are proud to claim him.
