Benchmark, located at 1510 N. Wells, hit the Old Town scene about 2 months ago and has been packed since the doors have opened. The retractable roof covering much of the second is very cool and will become handy when the weather turns. The TV set up is unmatched, it will be the perfect place to catch a game. The food is decently priced and if you are looking for a great appetizers to have while watching a game, we would suggest the Hot, Soft Pretzels. We also would strongly recommend the Bloody Mary’s although it seemed like they may need a little more time to get the food and drink menu together. It is definitely the new spot on the scene and will be for a while so check it out!

In Lou We Trust
Lou Piniella, Chicago Cubs manager, announced that he will be retiring at the end of this season. Closing his career including 18 years as a player and 22 as a manager, Piniella is retiring as the 14th most winning manager in major league history. A right-handed outfielder, Piniella was the AL Rookie of the Year in 1969 after batting .282, 11 home runs and 68 RBIs with the Royals. He was traded to the Yankees in 1973 and ended his playing career with New York in 1984. Last season and this season have not been as good for Piniella and the Cubs. Through Monday, the team was 10 1/2 games out of first place in the NL Central. Lou will be missed by true Cubs fans everywhere.
